Hey, I’m Zane — welcome to Zane Tech Bits.
I’ve worked in IT for a long time (more than 20 years), and over the years I’ve picked up a lot of practical knowledge across Linux (including my switch from Fedora to Arch), Windows, Azure, Microsoft services, and the general ecosystem of things that keep computers running. I’m not the stereotypical tech nerd — I just like understanding how things work. If something catches my attention, whether it’s a system, a tool, or something mechanical, I’ll dig into it until it makes sense.
I’m based in Tasmania, Australia, and outside of tech you’ll usually find me playing music, gaming a little, or getting out into the bush.
Why I’m writing
Zane Tech Bits is my way of sharing the things I’ve learned that might make someone else’s life easier. Over time you collect a lot of fixes, odd behaviours, and “here’s what actually works” insights. Instead of keeping them in my head, I’d rather put them somewhere people can find them when they need them. If something here saves you time or helps you understand a system more clearly, then it’s doing exactly what I want it to.
